Looks like the Metropolitan Police are in trouble again. They’ve been accused of having a “culture of apatheid” after a Community Support Officer, Assad Saeed, blew the whistle on racist activities in a Central London police station. Unfortunately, the station is unnamed, so I suppose we’ll just have to go from station to station until we find the one that’s had Nelson Mandela down in the cells for the last 27 years. Among other allegations, black police officers were made to ride in a separate van from white officers. Presumably everyone else had to walk.
I mean, for God’s sake, the Metropolitan Police, it’s bad enough that you keep stopping and searching me without this on top. Actually, I might use this one next time I get stopped and searched for such suspicious activities as “presence in area” (I’m not kidding, I actually got that on one occasion) or “not having a coat” (again, not kidding, although I think that was the Thames Valley Police). I think I just went off-topic for a moment.
Yes. Anyway. Metropolitan Police, stop saying that you’re getting rid of racism and then doing stupid things like this. That is all I have to say on the matter.
Additional: Police have also warned that the recession could lead to a “summer of rage” and that they should be prepared to stamp out protests. Activist groups claim that they are being heavy-handed. Goodness, it’s like the Special Patrol Group never went away.
